Evans, Ga--For the next three plus weeks we'll take you to every area football team as we preview the football season ahead. We start with the Panthers of Lakeside.

No question coach Jarrett Troxler will have his hands full in filling some big shoes. Wasn't just the shear numbers, but the type of players he had. From an offense that averaged 30 plus points to a defense that held six teams to under 20 points. The new kids on the block will be asked to do a lot and do it quickly.

"They're just young and they're going to have to grow up and they'll have to grow up fast with us playing Statesboro game one." said coach Jarrett Troxler "So they're being asked to grow up fast and we expect them to do that"

"We just have to be ourselves" said Lee Bellmer "We have to pay attention and focus up, we got a pretty hard schedule this year but I think with the people we have right now and what we can do, I think we'll be alright."

Look for Jonathan Edwards to step his game up. A playmaker who the Panthers will try to get the ball to. Calling the signals will fall on Hunter Banks. The junior will fill the shoes of Mark Weidenaar. Only one starter is back on the offensive line and not many more on the defnesive side but there is a silver lining.

"I think we're as athletic as we've been on defense" added Troxler "We can run and you know not a lot of depth, not a lot of varsity snaps under our belts so as the season goes on I think we'll get better on defense. Offensively, big shoes to fill. We averaged over 30 points a game last year."

Lakeside will be put to the test right out of the gates as they tangle with Statesboro and Thomson to start the season.
