Martinez, Ga--We had 13 high school football changes in the area this year. A lot of them, prominent programs. One of the biggest was at North Augusta as Dan Pippin left the program to take the same job in Greenwood. Thursday, Pippin was back in the area.
Thursday his eagle squad is at Lakeside to take on the Panthers in a 7 on 7 format. He's been on the job for about four months now and there are plenty of challenges ahead. At North Augusta Pippin built up the program. At Greenwood, he's taking over a wining tradtion. Certainly some added pressures with what they've accomplished in the past.
"I think Greenwood is one of the top one or two programs in the state of South Carolina" ssaid Dan Pippin "Like I said when I left , the only reason I left is for what I thought was one of the top programs in teh state. I thought we had one at North Augusta. I think Greenwood with the tradition and everything they have going on and the facilities and the kids have been phonomenoal so it's been great"
Just getting to know the players and what they can do is the first challenge of any new coach but Pippin is confident he can keep the traditiion going. Greenwood has played for three state titles in the last four years.
