Discipline will be the key to Cross Creek's success

Tuesday August 23, 2011

Cross Creek high school is the newest school in Richmond County. Sure they've been around for over a decade, but they lack football tradition. And for the past couple of years, they've lacked discipline. That's changing this fall.

Before you have success on the field, you have to have the right mindset, and everyone around the team readily admits that hasn't been the case. They've had players basically quit on them during games and it's the number one point of emphasis. So far, they see a different attitude and it's a positive one for a change.

"The way the discipline is going to play out this year is the fact it's going to keep us in the ballgames more." said coach Travis Nixon "That alone is a different mindset as far as how we call plays and how the kids perform."

"We're going to win more games then last year definitely." said senior Allen Gay "Last year we had a couple of struggles you know, the team wasn't together, getting in a lot of arguments and we had trouble. I think this year we're a whole team and we're going to come out and do our thing this year and be better then last year."

On the field, the Razorbacks are working on finishing off ballgames, something they've struggled with. They'll have a lot of juniors start on defense and on offense pay attention to the name Shayne Coleman. The big wide receiver has plenty of skills and if they can get him the ball, touchdowns may be in their future.
