Waynesboro, Ga--The countdown clock is speeding up a bit as the anticipation grows for Burke County's quest for a state title. It'd be the first in school history as they make their second ever appearance.
While the kids may be a little intimidated by the situation, that shouldn't be the case for the coaching staff. Offensive line coach Mercedes Hamilton has one with Tennessee and defensive cooridnator Michael Youngblood has a couple at Georgia Southern. Youngblood was also an assistant at Tucker in 2009 when they claimed the high school crown. He's anxious for some well deserving people to get their due.
"I really want this coaching staff and these kids and this community to experience that feeling we had on that night in 2008" said assistant coach Michael Youngblood "I'm not really worried about myself. I would like coach (Eric) Parker to get his first championship and all these coaches and this community finally can get their first championship ever"
You have to give this coaching staff a ton of credit. They have put the pieces in the right place to get the bears where they are at and these kids truly believe they are the best in the state and for good reason. Peach County 4:30 Saturday in the Georgia Dome for the title
