Briarwood expecting to climb the mountain as they move up in class

Wednesday August 22, 2012

The past four years Briarwood Academy has been a football team on the cusp of great things. They just haven't been able to get there. With a lot of returning starters, this year they are looking for the next step in leaving their legacy on the program.

While Briarwood replaces their entire backfield, they do have Taylor Coxwell back to run the show. He's done a lot of work in the off season to improve his passing game which should improve the bucs as a whole, seeing they usually run the ball a lot. For coach John Ssborne, the biggest thing he likes, are the small things.

"One thing about it, I really feel this team has discipline" said coach John Osborne "We have been doing the little things and that's what I have been preaching, is lets do the little things and the big things will happen"

"It's just goingto take dedication and working hard and everybody staying healthy" said Fifth Newton "Just getting after it day in and day out."

The jump in class to 2-A won't make life easy as the buccaneers are now the smallest program in the class. But coach Osborne says his boys are ready to climb the mountain with him and overcome. They'll find out how ready they are right out of the gates as they tangle with Edmund Burke Friday night
