Blackville, SC--Early in the year, Blackville Hilda was left for dead. Four big losses and the last thing they were thinking about was the playoffs. But things started to click and the ball started rolling and now they're hosting a playoff game after winning six straight. One reason for the success is our Operation Football Live player of the week.
It's senior Roderick Kearse of the Fighting Hawks who had a monster game against perennial power Calhoun County. 29 carries, 278 yards and four scores. It's the second time he's gone over the 200 yard barrier and he's the first to share the spotlight.
"I wouldn't have done it without my team" said Roderick Kearse "Everybody put together the effort, everybody was playing their game so we all just came out hard and started from the beginning, from the get go."
"I think a lot of times, the type of back he is, the more he gets his hands on the ball, the stronger he gets." said coach David Berry "He runs the ball well , he's got good speed, and he's playing both sides of the ball so he has to depend on those guys up front quite often."
With their win, Blackville Hilda now will host a first round game Friday night and for his efforts, we honor Roderick Kearse as our Operation Football Live player of the week.
