Richmond Academy football

It was three short years ago Richmond Academy had a winless season. But in the past two years, they've turned that around and are now a contender for not only a playoff spot, but a region title as well.
Lots of holes to fill though as they start camp this year. Now with a new winning tradition, those holes should be filled with some serious skill players. Guys like Drek Reid and Don Quarrles are poised for breakout seasons. Give some credit to the lower levels of ball at the Academy, when they win, it carries over to the varsity level.
"That's what has happened with our JV program" said coach Chris Hughes "Once we started winning the last couple of years it just fed the whole program. Our varsity team was successful, our JV team was successful so these kids expect to win."
"It's like the younger guys learn from the older guys. If we work hard, then they work hard and it just keeps going on from there." said Keaston Jones
Besides some play makers stepping in, coach Hughes is confident in his defense from top to bottom. And when you talk to the players, it seems like these guys get along better then they have in the past.
"I mean it's pretty good. We're working hard, working real hard, so we're just picking up where we left off last year." said senior quarterback Drek Reid
"This year we get along better then the team from last year. We have a lot of chemistry in the locker room and I think we're going to play good together." added Jones
With the new realignment, ARC has to be one of the favorites to grab a playoff spot. They also have some non-region games to start things off so it's a good chance for them to work the kinks out.
