Washington, Ga--When a football team racks up 22 wins in the last two years like Washington Wilkes has, you'd think they'd feel pretty good about themselves. For Tiger head coach Russell Morgan, it might not be the case this season.
This year's Tigers have a ways to go seeing only five seniors are on the roster and just two of them played last year. From a brand new backfield, to offensive line, d-line, and right down the line, coach Morgan is a little worried. They also have a killer schedule out of the gates.
"We have a lot of freshmen and sophomores who will see the playing field for us." said coach Russell Morgan. "We open up with Warren County who was a third round playoff team last year, and it doesn't get any easier with Thomson and Lincoln County back to back. We just hope to be competitive enough not to get embarrassed."
With all that said, winning is the norm for Washington Wilkes. Even with new faces like Dede Stewart and Eric Scott being asked to fill the voids, the seniors still expect to rack up the wins.
Dan Wylie said "it's just the system. I mean we don't look down on ourselves or anything like that. We don't expect to get beat or anything like that i'm just saying"
