Campin' with News 12: Greenbrier Wolfpack

News 12 @ 6 Saturday Aug. 18

Columbia County, Ga-- If you're looking for kind of a dark horse team to jump up and make big waves this year, look no further than Greenbrier. Scott Chadwick is now in his second year as head coach and the pieces are in place for a run to a title.

It'll all start in the offensive backfield with quarterback Nick Richards. The big time senior will be relied upon heavily to lead the team on and off the field. During his years as head coach elsewhere, Chadwick has had a number of all state signal callers, Richards might be the next.

"I went to a lot more camps this summer and I've been working a lot harder in the weight room, getting stronger and just throwing footballs," said Nick Richards. "Everyday and making it a priority to throw just about everyday in the summer has really helped as far as arm strength and footwork"

"He's the team leader and offensively we really need him to have a big productive year." said coach Scott Chadwick. "We're going to be better defensively, but offensively he's the one who has to take charge."

On defense, seven starters return which bodes well for the pack in holding teams in check. A big reason why they're ahead of the game, simple, weight training.

"We're much farther along strength wise then we were last year. The kids really worked hard in the weight room in the winter, the spring and the summer." said Scott Chadwick.

Greenbrier is deep at wide receiver and tight end which bodes well, but need someone to step in the shoes of Freddie Jones at tailback.
