Sandersville, Ga--You would think a team coming off a three win season might be down on themselves. But if you head to Sandersville and check in on Brentwood, just the opposite. This year's War Eagles are expecting to fly high.
Part of the reason, they won two of their last three games in what was an injury plagued season. With minimal graduation loss, Brentwood returns plenty of three year starters. Among them the likes of Rhett Scott, Lee Armour and AJ Pryor, their second leading rusher. These guys know the outcome will be different.
"It was kind of rough, we had a lot of guys who were first year starters and we were a young team last year. We have a big senior class this year. we have a lot of good juniors and I think we'll be alright" said senior AJ Pryor
What also be alright is the attitude. Only three years removed from a 10 win year, this year's seniors saw what it takes to win. That modest stretch to end the year also should go a long way.
"The kids held it together, they perservered through a lot of adversity" said coach Bert Brown "We had a last three or four seasons that were pretty good and we went back to some simple things offensively and we feel like it gave us a good jump start on the '08 season."
Coach Brown is also hoping the offense can put up more points. A year ago they scored a touchdown or less in five of their seven losses.
