Petticoat Junction, SC-- Its hard to put a defining moment in a football game on one quarter or one play but for Silver Bluff, that moment happened Friday night in their win over Strom Thurmond. A defining fourth quarter that led them to victory and led us to our Operation Football Live, Augusta Chronicle Player of the week.
His name is Hikeem Dixon and talk about stepping up when need be. The Bebels were in complete control leading 21-10 when things changed quickly. First it was Dixon scooping up a fumble and taking it 33 yards to the end zone. Then, with the Rebels driving in the closing minutes, it was Dixon again falling on a fumble that set up the game winning drive. Dixon has changed a lot over the past year in the silver bluff program, all for the good.
"Last year I had fallen off bad" said Hikeem Dixon "This year I kind of picked it up as a person and as a football player."
"Now he's developing as a young man where he's in control of himself, he's more of a team player this year. He's sacrificed playing offensive tackle some and playing linebacker some for us." said coach Al Lown "Yea he had a great performance for us last week but I think that's just a culmination of the last six months that he's been improving as a person."
Pretty much everyone around the program is calling the comeback the biggest in school history and for his efforts we honor Silver Bluff's Hikeem Dixon as our Operation Football Live, Augusta Chronicle player of the week.
