Augusta, GA--In the grand scheme of things there's not a lot of quarterbacks that can walk into a program and simply take over at times. For Richmond Academy and Drek Reid, that's just what he did Friday night and becomes our Operation Football Live,Augusta Chroncile player of the week.
Reid had a big game against Hephzibah in throwing for 216 yards and a pair of scores and running for another 150 and a 58 yard TD scamper. First year calling the plays but Reid learned a lot from his brother, and last year's quarterback MarQuon Medlock.
"That's how I learned the whole offense" said Drek Reid "He taught me everything. We use to go over it every night at the house, practice everyday, throw balls everyday."
"We needed our offense to start clicking" said coach Chris Hughes "We've had a couple of so-so performances offensively the first two games so we really needed a break out performance and Drek provided that this week."
That win was a big one over the rebels and sets up ARC as one of the teams to beat in the region. Reid also admits he'd just assume play wide receiver but will do whatever it takes for ARC to win ballgames.
