North Augusta, SC--Here's a piece of advice to any school and their fans that are going to play North Augusta. Don't add fuel to the fire and try to get under the skin of Jacket quarterback Loranzo Hammonds. He'll make you pay on the field like he did to Dutch Fork this past Friday night.
After the student section for Dutch Fork tried to call him out, Hammonds went out and went off, thus the reason he's our Operation Football Live, Augusta Chroncile player of the week. In their huge win, Hammonds threw for 355 yards and three touchdowns and ran for another 145 yards and another score. Over the past three years we've found out how good he is, but every now and then he has a wow game, and this was it.
"Well when I get going, I think I move faster then the game" said Loranzo Hammonds "Everything just slows down. I can just see it all in one concept and play above what everybody else is playing on the field."
"I think we probably opened it up too much" said coach Dan Pippen "We got into stuff we shouldn't have been in and probably put him in situations that he is just good enough to take advantage of. We probably put him in situations we shouldn't have and he just did a good job with them."
The numbers Hammonds is putting up shouldn't surprise a lot of folks. Last year he was over 2300 yards passing and a thousand rushing and is well on his way again this year. The future is bright and right now a lot of smaller schools are giving a serious look at him, but right now he's focused on helping North Augusta win ballgames.
