Aquinas off to fast start

2-0 and Aquinas football. Two phrases that haven't been seen together in awhile.

In fact, the Irish haven't won their first two games in five years.

Times have changed, though. In matt LeZotte's second year in charge, things have clicked for Aquinas, and in dramatic fashion.

The team has outscored opponents by 71 points in the first two weeks, and a lot of that has been because of Brendan Douglas. The back has scored nine touchdowns so far, but he and his coach say the success is all about believing they can get the job done.

LeZotte says, "I think the guys are learning how to win...bottom line. And I think that was one of the most important things with this job, teaching the guys how to win, and what it feels like to win and knowing how to finish off your opponent, always having that killer instinct. We're developing that and trying to instill it in them, and they're starting to do it."

Douglas added, "We're working hard for it, and the coaches have prepared us well, and we just go out there and play."

The Fightin' Irish have two winnable games coming up. Their next two opponents are a combined 1-4.
