Augusta, Ga--Last year the pieces started to fall into play for the Butler Bulldogs. Despite their winless season, you could start to see glimpses of what we saw Friday night. A prime time performance by a hungry group of kids.
Leading the way for the dogs, Jeffrey Menefee, our McDonalds, Operation Football Live, Augusta Chronicle player of the week. Menefee really stood tall scoring three times and rushing for over 200 yards. The junior has put in a lot of work and now it's all paying off for he and his teammates.
"I woke up and I called everybody to make sure we had people come to practice everyday" said Jeff Menefee "I got up every morning at five o'clock and went running. Made sure I got myself fit for me to come to practice and be able to compete where other people who I see, I want to be better then them."
"He's always been pretty shifty and we've just been working on him in reading the blocks, hitting the holes, just depending on where the defenses line up is where your holes are going to hit and he's done a good job at picking up on that and so hopefully he can continue to get better." added coach Ashley Harden
Menefee could have had even a bigger game had it not been for a number of penalties that negated other runs and more yardage but for his efforts this week, butler's Jeff Menefee our McDonald's, OFL player of the week and be sure to check out Friday's Augusta Chronicle for more on Mr. Menefee.
