Harlem, Ga--While most football teams will kick off the season on Friday, Harlem gets an extra week to prepare. Things should be on the up and up for the Bulldogs with more kids putting on the pads.
Expectations have certainly changed for Jimmy Lewis and the team, mainly by the shear number of players. A season ago they struggled to field a team after Grovetown opened. This year, nearly doubled the amount of kids suiting up. That alone can make a huge difference.
"We've got a little more depth then we've been having" said coach Jimmy Lewis "Of course we didn't have any depth and we were lucky to field a team but we have a few more kids, we're a little faster and a little stronger through the work throughout the year in the weight room so we're kind of excited."
"It is, we get to two platoon and it's a little more then last year." added Taylor Camp "We had to play all of last year on both sides."
Lewis gives all the props in the world to the four seniors who stuck things out a year ago. Heck, they even surprised some people by stealing a win here and there. With lots of returning starters back, don't be too fast to over look this scrappy group of guys.
"No doubt, I think we're going to surprise a couple of teams" said Hunter Hamilton "Everyone thinks we're just push overs but we'll be out there, we'll surprise everyone."
"They'll be surprised" added Dominque Taylor "We're going to surprise them because they think they're going to run all over us, but we're going to show them."
Another Zach will again be quarterback, Zach McIntire takes over the reigns for Zach Taylor. While he might not possess the same speed, McIntire might have a better arm.
