Cross Creek looks to new attitude for improvement

Monday August 23, 2010

Augusta, Ga--For some reason some teams just seem to have more problems then others. Those can come from off the field or on. At Cross Creek, they're hoping to correct those problems as they get ready for the start of the season.

There is a new attitude at the home of the Razorbacks that seems to make all the difference in the world. A tighter run program where kids are held accountable. New coach Travis Nixon has made that his number one priority and those who want to play are buying into the system.

"Most of the seniors last year, they didn't show up and come to two practices out of the week" said senior Robert Greene " This year everybody's been here, for the most part, everyday. We've been getting ready for the season and I think it's going to be a good season."

"A lot of kids, they're adjusting to it, they welcome it" said new coach Travis Nixon "The character issue, we work on daily and hope we just keep progressing that way."

Now i doubt Nixon will wear the giant sombrero during the games, but hey, what ever works during practice. One thing that is working, the defense. While Nixon is an offensive minded guy, he's liking what he sees on that side of the ball.

"I do love defense and I think we have a very tenacious, hard hitting defense and I can't wait to see these guys in action." added coach Nixon

"Everybody be smart, and everybody doing what they need to do and not giving up on plays. That's mainly what we need to do to keep another team's offense from scoring" said senior Bryan Hayes

Cross Creek also has about 23 or so seniors on the roster so the experience is there. He also expects the Razorbacks to surprise a few teams when its time to suit up on Friday nights.
