Lincolnton, Ga--When you look in the dictionary of the word winner, there should be a picture of Lincoln County head coach Larry Campbell. High school programs are suppose to have a down year every now and then. For the Red Devils, a down year in the past decade has meant only seven wins.

Heck, since 2003, the least amount of wins this team has had is 11 and have a couple of state titles in that stretch as well. But things are changing in the land of the Red Devils. A new school and practice facility, and several new faces in the coaching ranks. On the field, Lincoln County has really cranked up the pace of things in practice.

"Probably the pace we're going to put the other teams through. They better have good endurance and if they don't we're going to shove it down their throats pretty much." said senior Garrett Mohr

"The offense we're running, we need two quarterbacks bad!" said coach Larry Cambpell "We're going to try to do it at a faster pace then what we're normally doing, I'm probably talking at a faster pace then I normally am, but we are looking at that and everything in practice that we do."

Garrett Mohr and Franklin Sherman will be in charge of running the offense, but of course when you talk Lincoln County, you need to talk defense. Campell feels that will again be the strength of the team. Even with a new defensive coordinator, things are looking good in that department.

"I think coach Banks is up to that challenge" added Campbell "His position that he coaches is probably one of the weaker groups. We use to have pretty big old D-1, D-2 defensive tackles, we don't have that this time so he's had to swap that for a little quickness."

You can ask any players and they'll tell you, the discipline has returned. It might have been relaxed in the past, but not any more and everyone has been keeping their nose clean so far. Even the veteran coach says this year's team has put some excitement back in his step.
