High expectations again at ECI

Wednesday August 18, 2010

Twin City, Ga--It was just a couple of years ago when Georgia sophomore running back Washaun Ealy was leading ECI to a state title. Even after he left the Bulldog program, Emanuel County has barely missed a beat

A big reason for that is tradition. No doubt, ECI has lots of that on their side. This year should be no different seeing they lost just 10 seniors from a talented squad a year ago. It's a true statement when you say winning breads winning, especially with these Bulldogs.

"I say the pressure is here" said senior Tyrone Johnson "We have a good tradition of winning and we work as hard as we can so we can keep that tradition rolling. After I graduate, we can still try to teach the young guys the same thing we did."

Now Tyrone Johnson is just one of a handful of running backs expected to carry the load and he knows there's pressure playing here. But the way ECI practices is the way they play in games. Thus the success they have.

"We want to try to practice at a pace that you know a lot of folks can't simulate." said coach Milan Turner "We hope that maybe we're practicing at a little bit higher pace then other folks we have to play so that when we get out there on Friday nights, four quarters of football isn't so hard for us."

A year ago may have been a blip on the radar when they were bounced in the second round of the playoffs. It would come as no surprise if they make another deep run in class a again this year.
