Greenbrier High School football

Evans, GA--One of the more interesting story lines heading into this football season will Greenbrier. After two years of playing in class 5-A, the Wolfpack are back in 4-A with some of the other area teams. They're also hoping to get back to the playoffs.
It's an experienced group up and down the roster so it seems the pieces to the puzzle are already in place. Graham Lowry and Matt Mcalvin lead the guys in the trenches and they're ready to face every battle head on.
"I think it's huge and when it comes to our defense we have eight returning players on and just the experience it brings with it. Our team has come together real quick and it should be a lot of fun to play." said senior Graham Lowry
"It's going to take all of us working as one unit" said senior Matt McAlvin "Greenbrier teams in the past, like in '06, they were a family and we just need to find that leadership."
They're also very talented on offense with quarterback Chris Reeder returning to lead the pack and has some skill positions who can make plays. Even with the experience, coach Brian Smith isn't forcing the issue right out of the gate.
"Well I think we just need to fine tune our game" said coach Brian Smith "I think as always you're never really ready week one, but we're taking it a little slower. We want to be good at what we do so hopefully we can get everything in that we need to get in by game one."
Of course the pack will have to navigate through a region with Lakeside and Evans just to name a couple. They also open the season with Grovetown on the 20th.
