Augusta, Ga--When you think Laney football, you think a winning tradition. So when the wildcats went five and five a year ago, I'm sure a lot of folks were shaking their heads. This year, expect great things for these cats.

It all starts with experience. Led by quarterback Leo Myers, eight starters return on offense. That means, more expectations then ever. Having been to a big time passing camp this summer, Myers stepped up his game. He, along with the rest of Laney realize with the guys coming back, a 500 season won't be a good one.

"When the season ended last year we were like, come on man, five and five, we got to do better." said quarterback Leo Myers "Everybody knows last year was our group, that young thing, the inexperience is out the window. It's a new team, we're going for it, we're hungry, that's all."

"We had so many kids that played that were young." said coach Lemuel Lackey "This year you're trying to come in and put some experience on the field. I think the biggest thing is having kids that know the system."

Now just because they have the weapons, doesn't mean they're going to win. A tough schedule will give the cats everything they can handle. But take care of the little things, and everything else will fall into place.

"I think consistency" said coach Lackey "We've got to learn to play with consistency on both sides of the ball. You have to have a situation where the kids understand what's in front of them and what they're suppose to do."

Laney, like many is in a new region this year so every game won't be a region game so they can work out some of the kinks early on.
