National signing day is just under a month away and while many area football players have already decided on where they'll play college ball, one of the best has just made his verbal commitment.

The countdown clock is speeding up a bit as the anticipation grows for Burke County's quest for a state title. It'd be the first in school history as they make their second ever appearance.

Burke County will play for their first ever state title after destroying Gainsville 63-28 Friday night in the Georgia Class 3-A state semifinals.

Six weeks ago, Silver Bluff was a football team left for dead. Three straight losses and having scored just 21 points. It could have gotten worse from there. But instead of folding the tents, they found themselves and are now a threat here deep in the class 2-A playoffs.
