Thomson, Ga--It's safe to say no team has gone through more in the past year then Thomson. The retirement of coach Luther Welsh, the hiring of Milan Turner as his replacement and then the grieving of losing coach Welsh. Through it all, the Bulldogs have showed resolve and are ready to perform on the field.
This team has the pieces in place to be a serious contender for not only a region crown, but able to make a run deep into the post season. It starts with play makers. Quarterback Josh Jones has experience under is belt and coach Turner likes what he's seen out of him. Chris Jordan and Shawn Bonner are just two names that are explosive threats
"We got a lot of play makers around." said quarterback Josh Jones "The coaches have said it's my job to get them the ball and let them do what they do and that's score touchdowns and make plays."
Coach Turner says he has no real stars. They are the 9 to 5 guys who punch the clock and get the job done. It's the blue collar mentality that could have Turner smiling a lot Friday nights.
"We've got a lot of guys. We're not that big, but we have some guys who have some decent speed." said coach Milan Turner "Again, they're just hard nosed, gritty type of kids and you can't have too many of those. We're blessed to have those guys and hopefully we can keep them fresh on Friday nights and rotate several guys in."
John Atkins will be one of the big cogs on the defensive side of the ball and they should be rock solid as you might expect. Thomson opens up Friday night against Washington Wilkes.
