Sandersville, GA -- When you play football at Washington County, there are a few things that you just understand. You're going to play one of the toughest schedules, you'll be expected to win anyway, and your committment level needs to be all in.

This year, those same things are true, but "All In" isn't going unsaid any longer.

Head Coach Joel Ingram wants the Golden Hawks to live that motto both on and off the field this year in an effort to get over the hump from winner to powerhouse.

WaCo's senior class has made the playoffs every year but has just one win in that span, so they're ready to go all in to get it done.

Ingram said, "Our motto this year is 'All In,' and that means school, community, family. That means it's not all in when it's on your means. It's all in for this football team."

Senior lineman Michael Selby added, "If you're 'All In,' you'll lay down your life. You'll do anything for the team. That means minus distractions. You gotta lay your body out there on the line every week."

The Golden Hawks will need to be all in in order to navigate what's probably one of the toughest schedules in the state.

Being in the smallest region in GHSA means Washington County has to go outside the region for six games, but they always look forward to the challenge.

"I think out of our ten game schedule, we play eight or nine teams that were playoff teams last year," Ingram said. "With that being said, there are going to be a lot of games where we're going to have to try to find the intestinal fortitude to win in the fourth quarter. It's just not the luxury of having games where you mercy rule people anymore because it is a very tough schedule."

The Golden Hawks open on the road at Eagles Landing Christian. The Chargers are coming off a state championship loss in Class A.

Washington County's new region includes arch rival Jefferson County, Thomson, Swainsboro and Dodge County.
