Jefferson County is number six in the News 12/Augusta Chronicle Power Poll this week, but that's not the only place they're ranked.
The eight win Warriors are eighth in this week's Class AA Coaches Poll, and how about another eight...this is the eighth straight year they've made the playoffs.
Last year was the best so far. The Warriors advanced to the third round, beating Thomasville to get there.
This year, the match-up comes a week earlier. Tenth-ranked Thomasville travels to Louisville this week, and Jefferson County Head Coach J.B. Arnold knows what his team is up against.
He says, "When you cross over to face another ranked team in the first round, it's tough. Thomasville knows us. We played them last year. And we know them, but it's going to be a war Friday just like any time you play a storied program like Thomasville. Hopefully, you know, we've been making some noise, and hopefully that train continues for us."
To get the win, the Warriors likely will need to stick to what got them there, a punishing running attack.
Running backs Charles Broadus and Dontavius Kitchens both have over a thousand yards on the ground this year.
