Wagener, SC--Wagener Salley is a football team that has to fight and scratch and claw for every win they get. And to be honest, they haven't gotten many in the last few years. They've been close on several occasions this season, and on Friday, finally broke through in the win column. It's also where we head for our Operation Football Live player of the week.
Running back Trey Davis is a big reason for that win. After missing the first couple of games, Davis has seen his role expanded each Friday night. Against Ridge Spring Monetta, Davis came up big with 190 yards rushing, another 65 receiving and three total touchdowns. He's the first to credit the big guys up front for his performance.
"It was just our fullback taking out the man on the end, the defensive end, and it was just as straight shot from there on and with speed. It was all up to my offensive line. If it wasn't for them, I couldn't do it." said Trey Davis
"We've kind of been expecting Trey to do some big things for us this year." said coach Ken Tucker "This week our offensive line did a great job opening up holes and he was able to hit them and really accelerate through and take it into the second and third levels for some big gains."
This past Friday also marked his first game where he was the feature back in the offense from the start. For his performance we honor Wagener Salley's Trey Davis as our OFL player of the week.
