Wagener Salley gunning for the playoffs
Thursday August 16, 2012
Wagener, SC--With a grand total of four wins in their last two years, Wagener Salley is a team hungry. To feed that hunger, the war eagles have a group of kids who are capable of having a season to remember.
14 starters return and you can see the confidence gorwing in this squad. It'll start on offense with as pretty talented team led by running back Trey Davis. Missed some games a year ago but when he ran, he ran well. Now that he has an experienced line in front of him, wagener salley feels like getting him past the big boys up front will lead to lots of offense
"Yea we have a lot of confidence" said senior Jeff Hair "We have a lot coming back from last year, all our offensive linemen except one. We expect to be able to move the ball on anybody we play and score a lot of points."
"I tell the linemen all the time that if they can just get him past the line of scrimmage into the linebackers and the second level, then he can make some things happen" added coach Ken Tucker "He's just a kid that runs with a lot of heart and runs strong."
A hidden talent that won't be hidden for long is RJ Tyler. He'll play tight end and receiver and at 6-4 will be a serious target, especially in class a. With a more aggressive style on defense, if the war eagles post some early wins, they could be smelling the playoffs by the time its all said and done.
