Tigers motivated by underperforming 2010

Sunday, August 14, 2011

Fairfax, SC - 5-5. It's the poster child for an average football season. At Allendale-Fairfax, they're not used to average. They're always thinking region championships, playoff berths and title runs, but last year, they hit head on with 5-5.

The players, especially the seniors, are using it as a wake up call. There are plenty of seniors to run the point home. Last year's Tigers squad had just six.

This year, there are 17, and Head Coach Eddie Ford says they're all ready to wash that taste out of their mouth, and if they forget? He's ready to remind them.

Senior Ronald Bradley says, "5-5 by our standards is very unexceptional. We come out here everyday, and Coach tells us every time he wakes up he think of 5-5. We have to improve on that. That's unexceptional by our standards for this ball club."

Ford adds, "I remind them everyday about what we did last year. Everyday, just to fuel them a little bit because they don't like to hear that kind of talk, and neither do I. I figure, if I've got to bare it, then they have to bare it too."

Ford says the defense will take this squad where it wants to go this year, and with at least two division one college recruits on that unit, the Tigers seem poised to get there.
