Swainsboro, Ga--When you go undefeated in the regular season, you expect to do considerable damage in the playoffs. For Swainsboro, yea, things didn't go according to plan.
The Tigers were bounced in the first round by Brooks County meaning these guys couldn't wait to get back on the field. With a solid corp of players returning off that team, they're working harder to make sure it doesn't happen again.
"These guys I think are hungry" said coach Scott Roberts "The taste of that first round loss is still in their mouths and I'm glad. I hope that we come out this time and play with a chip on their shoulder and try to improve on what we did last year."
"Since November 11th of last year, it's been a sick taste in everybody's mouth and a bad feeling in their stomach." said senior Michael Muns "We went 10-0 as region champs and you know in our minds we really went 0 and 1when it came down to crunch time. It doesn't start getting better the week of the playoffs, you start it August 1st and then November 5th in the weight room."
Now there are a few pieces to replace, namely at quarterback where Lynquez Blair is gone. But with the Quan Gardner and Shaq Cowart and others back to help carry the burden, and plenty of experience up front, go ahead and book these guys another playoff date. This time, they'll be hungrier then ever to win in the post season.
