Augusta, GA - It's been longer than most players can remember since Josey's seen playoff football, but you wouldn't know it looking at the Eagles' field. Numbers and spirits are high, and that might be just what the Eagles need.
One of the biggest problems in a 4-6 campaign last year was that John Noah's squad just didn't have enough depth. In the fourth quarter, they were tired, and that's where they lost most of their games.
In crunch time, Josey couldn't keep from giving up points, and with the extra players, Noah's pretty clear about where he wants to see extra work.
"Defense, defense and more defense. Offensively, you know, we did really well last year, but we couldn't stop people," Noah said. "This year we're concentrating, and we're playing our best eleven on defense, and we're just going to work with 'Quis (quarterback Markquis Burton) and our running backs and hopefully we can put some points up and win some ballgames."
Lineman Torron Holmes added, "Coach just wants us to play hard, and he wants us to hit everybody who has the ball. When he says he wants eleven around the ball, he wants eleven around the ball."
On the offense, it's all about Burton at quarterback. We saw flashes of brilliance in his junior season, but as a senior, Coach Noah says he'll get a lot more work.
The Eagles open in August 26th at CrossCreek.
