Petticoat Junction, SC--If you're looking for teams that can score a lot of points this year, you may want to head out to Petticoat Junction. This year's Silver Bluff team has weapons in the backfield that could match up with anyone in the area. It'll be interesting to see how far this squad can go.
Two names jump off the page on the offensive side, those being Cordrea Tankersley and Andre "AJ" Washington. Tankersley is a Clemson commit who will run the show at quarterback out of the spread offense while Washington had a monster year carrying the ball as a junior. Shaquez Wright may surprise some people too, giving this team some serious firepower that can overcome some inexperience up front.
"We're going to be real young in the offensive line," says Coach Al Lown. "We started two freshmen last year who are now going to be sophomores, but we're probably going to look to have four sophomores starting on the offensive line so Coach (Keith) Radford will have his work cut out for him, but we have some fire power back there. We're going to a more spread offense with two backs back there so our three offensive backs are pretty good."
"We have a lot of potential this year," says Rekem McCorckle. "We got a lot of talent, and we have a lot of freshmen, a lot of young talent, and some good seniors."
On defense, Jimmie Holmes was a beast a year ago and will anchor a solid line that could take some pressure off a young defensive backfield. No question this will be a playoff team, but the question becomes can they get by the second round? That's something they haven't done in quite some time now.
