Warrenton, GA - Warren County's football team is feeling a little bit like it's stuck in a rut. The Screaming Devils have made the playoffs a dozen years in a row, but that's pretty much it. Each year, it seems, they qualify, lose in the first round, and go home.

This year, they're thinking things will be a little different in Warrenton. The offense lost some serious play makers, but Marleau Blount has brought a stability and a confidence that wasn't there in years past, and the Devils have no doubt where they're headed.

"We've made the playoffs the last twelve years consecutively so we will compete," said Coach Blount. "I guess our task will be to get into that top tier, that one and two seed."

Senior Ed'ricus Williams added, "Me, as a senior, I've been to the playoffs every year since I got into high school, and I don't plan on stopping it this year. But this year, I plan on taking it further than I have in the past because 9th, 10th and 11th grade we made it to the first round and got put out. Not this year."

Another reason for optimism is the Screaming Devils' defense. Warren County returns their entire defense from a year ago, and Williams thinks teams will need a pretty good attack just to make a dent.

"Defense, well, it's going to be pretty hard to score on us this year. I mean, we lost what, two players off defense, so it's not a whole other defense. You might as well say the whole defense is coming back. It's going to be very challenging to score on us this year."

The Screaming Devils "D" has two teams every year that give them fits. That's Lincoln County and Wilkinson County. If they find a way past both of them, Warren County might end up right where they want to be.
