Ah summer is heating up so its only right we talk football. The Fellowship of Christian Athletes once again sponsoring a 7 on 7 passing league during the month of June. 10 schools on the field tonight and including two new coaches working with their squad.
That includes the new head man at Greenbrier, Kevin Hunt. Hunt had been an assistant on the Wolfpack staff so he had a big advantage of knowing the kids from the start. He's been working with them in the weight room and thru spring ball and these type of events are just a continuation of what they've already built.
"We're not going to win or lose a football game here on June 19th" said Kevin Hunt "So I'm very deliberate, very patient with the kids. Teaching concepts and understanding the concepts of what we're trying to do. Maybe not just a particular play but a concept of why we are doing this"
Hunt added it's also a good time for the kids to fully understand the playbook as they look forward to the fall. But for Hunt, it's been a busy and very good couple of months. He gets the head coaching job..his son Jordan, helps lead Greenbrier to the state finals where was the ace of the staff and Kaila Hunt, remember her, helped lead Alabama to a national title on the softball diamonds. He's been a man on the go.
"Jordan plays for a state title on Monday, we get in the car and drive to Oklahoma on Wednesday, and the next Wednesay we're winning a national title so yea, it's been a great run for the Hunt family" added Hunt
Also taking part, Butler and their new head coach a Warren County. David Daniel back on the field. While Daniel plans on coaching in the fall, he's still battling the effects of getting clobbered during the post game fight with Hancock County. Daniel says events like this are kind of the litmus test to see if he's going to be able to get the job done.
