North Augusta peaking at the right time

Monday November 15, 2010

North Augusta, SC--Football teams want to peak in the month of November. Some do and last a while in the playoffs, others don't and are shown the door early on. For North Augusta, they are hitting their stride at the right time.

The Yellow Jackets played probably their most complete game to date in beating Richland Northeast in the first round of the playoffs. The offense scored 35 points in the first half while the defense did its job allowing just two scores. Now the object is to duplicate the output in round two of the state playoffs.

"I think we still have a ways to go" said senior DeMarcus Rouse "We did good in the first half but I think we can do better. Just by executing more. We had some dropped passes, we had some busted runs, I think we can build on that and be better as a team."

"It's just been hard some games to get up in the regular season because I think our kids know that they were good." said Dan Pippen "They know they can kind of turn it on and do well when they need to and now Friday, they turned it on the moment they hit the field."

Unlike a year ago when the jackets had to go on the road for round two, they get another home game, this time with TL Hanna friday night.
