North Augusta, SC--No question about it, there's a lot of big time players on North Augusta once again this year. That's what happens when you build a program like the jackets have. This past week, one particular Yellow Jacket stood out among the rest.
Vinnie Miller is his name, carrying the pigskin his game. Miller had 28 carries for 215 yards and four touchdowns against Dutch Fork Friday night. He also had a big fake punt that led to another score. The Jackets game plan is to get him the ball between 30 and 40 times a game and let him do his thing. What makes him so good? That's easy..his work ethic.
"Obviously he just runs the ball real hard" said coach Dan Pippin "His work ethic has been great for four years. I wish people could come see him on Sundays when he comes here and works out. People would say that kid works out and that's why he's as good as he is. He doesn't just do it on that day, he's that way every day in the weight room."
"Of course I want more. You always want more carries. 28 is a lot but I want more." said Vinnie Miller "I guess you could call it a grinder you know, I like contact. I won't stray away from it but you know if I get a chance to get into the open field, I'll always turn it on."
Coach Pippin says they'd love to have him touch the ball near 40 times a game to take advantage of his skills. Today we honor North Augusta's Vinnie Miller as our Operation Football Live player of the week.
