New Butler coach hits the ground running

Wednesday June 20, 2012

Augusta, Ga--When Ashley Harden left the Butler football team, he left the program in good shape. Turned a perennial loser into a team that believes they could win. Now the reins have been turned over to Myron Newton to continue the recent success.

Newton hasn't had a ton of time with the kids and has only been here about three weeks. He even says he doesn't have every thing moved from Coffee County yet. But Newton is looking forward to the challenge and has been impressed with how hard the kids are working now knowing they can win ballgames and win a bunch of them.

You know the kids are working hard" said new coach Myron Newton "That sticks out, that jumps right out at me. They're working hard so that makes me get on my horse right away. Coming in, you hear a lot of things, and I'm coming from south Georgia where we eat, breathe and sleep football, so coming in, I don't know how the kids are and you hear about the football and they've been great."

Newton will still have his work cut out seeing the Bulldogs lost a good senior contingent. But so far, he likes the effort he's seeing.
