Thomson, Ga--It's been 10 long years since Briarwood has won a region title. The last few, they've been kind of stuck with that 6 and 5 record. This year, a new coach, a new offense and they full expect it'll pay off with that region crown.
Bo Fleming has been with the Buccaneer program for seven years and now takes over as the man in charge. Gone is the single wing attack, in is the pro style offense. Dakota Reese will be the feature back and he's going to see the pigskin a lot. Sometimes kinds don't like change, but they love the new offensive scheme.
"I'm definitely a fan of the offensive change." said Jack Russell "Going from more of a wishbone to a pro set, I think it's going to help us out a lot, especially with the kind of linemen that we have."
"They have really enjoyed it." said coach Bo Fleming "We did a lot of stuff this summer with 7 on 7's and getting a bunch of our skill guys involved. Before we focused on a couple of kids mainly getting the touches, this year we're trying to spread it around and get as many kids involved as possible."
Fleming brings a more rah-rah style into the Briarwood program and as some of the kids say, if he can't get you pumped up to play nobody can. He's coached this group since middle school and now it's their time to shine.
