New coach, same high expectations at North Augusta

Thursday, August 14, 2014

North Augusta, SC--They're one of the most watched programs in the area, both fan base wise and from the outside. North Augusta has built something special over the past decade and are ready for the next step, that being vying for a state title.

If they do it, they'll do it with Brian Thomas now in charge. Thomas replaces Dan Pippin, who did big things with the program. The cupboard is stocked for the most part. Trip Reece is now a three year starter at quarterback. The defense, has always been underrated, but have some serious talent. Put it all together and it's not to hard to figure out the ultimate goal, a year after coming up two games shy.

"The expectations are there and we're going to coach them that way and they're going to perform that way." said Brian Neal "They want to make it a step farther, they got to the third round, but like I said the ultimate goal is to win them all and we haven't gotten there yet so hopefully we'll head in that direction."

"I just think being mentally tougher and finishing out the season more, that's a problem we had last year." added Victor Johnson

Jackets do have to replace a bunch of skill guys Look for the names Cam Matthews and Brandon Houston to step up their game. Same at wide reciever, where they pretty much lost everyone. But as Reece said, he knows 'em they've worked together all off season and full expect them to perform at a high level.
