McCormick, SC - Call it a new start. The Brian Neal era begins at McCormick, and it hasn't been in session very long. Neal didn't meet his team until June 15th, and he's got a tall order ahead.

The Chiefs haven't had a winning season yet in the 2000's, but they do have some definite talent back at the skill positions.

Any coach will tell you, though, even a talented team can't win if they don't care, and these kids care. Neal was focused on changing the attitude around his program, but in reality, he says he didn't have to do much.

"You hear it all over the place about changing culture and that kind of thing, but the kids, to me, have really taken that on," Neal says. "The kids are wanting to change culture, and I haven't had to say anything about that. They've kind of taken that on themselves, so that's been really good."

Quarterback Toronce Bryant adds, "It's a big difference from the past couple years because the whole team has bonded as a group, and I think it could be a big year for us."

McCormick has some talent in its region, but it's wide open in terms of making the playoffs. A little improvement could spell bonus football this fall for the Chiefs.
