Martinez, Ga--When deciding on our player of the week, most of the times we go straight to the stats. But football is more then yards gained and touchdowns scored. It's part of the reason we've selected Lakeside's Mark Weidenaar as our Operation Football Live player of the week.
This past Friday, Weidenaar scored four touchdowns and accounted for over 200 yards of offense. But Mark is without question one of the big leaders on the Panthers. If you're not familiar with his story he missed all of last year with an injury. Now, back 100%, he's doing what it takes to help the team be successful
"Well just about every game has been a different style of play for us." said Mark Weidenaar "If running the ball is working then we're going to do that. This past game we threw the ball six times and we had some success. We didn't feel like we had to throw it
but we did what we needed to and it worked out pretty good for us."
"As a leader, he's a great leader" said coach Jarrett Troxler "He's a leader by example, he's not a real, real vocal kid, but he works hard and the kids believe in him and the kids are behind him. That's his biggest strong point. The kids look up to him and they're really behind him."
On the year, Weidenaar is over 1700 total yards and has 20 touchdowns. Considering the tough schedule they've played, rock solid. And his leadership is unquestioned. For his efforts, we honor Lakeside's Mark Weidenhaar as our Operation Football Live player of the week.
