Evans, Ga--With all the noise Greenbrier made in the off season, you know they were chomping at the bit to have a big game right out of the gates. Well, they did. A big part of that success, senior running back Jamal Richard, who's our Academy Sports and Outdoors player of the week
In the win over Harlem, Richard methodically picked them apart and then hit for this big run. By the time it was all over, 212 yards and a pair of touchdowns. The senior actually wanted to go for 300 yards but had to be patient and let things happen in front of him.
"I had to stay patient because I wanted to hit a big run since the first play of the game said Jamal Richard "First play of the game I wanted to bust it open for 80 yards but I had to be patient, follow my blockers, and they did an excellent job by the way, I just had to continue to follow them and keep beating them in the middle and just go all out every play of the game."
"I"m glad he sets high expectations" said Jarrett Troxler "I think sometimes people don't sent expectations high enough for themselves so he set those expectations, worked at it and did a great job."
Richard will be counted on a lot for the Wolfpack but will also garner a lot of attention after this performance. He just wants to go to college and be an example for his family he said. And for his efforts to start the year we honor Greenbrier's Jamal Richard as our Acadmey Sports and Outdoors player of the week.
