Edmund Burke ready for another run to state title game

Tuesday August 14, 2012

Waynesboro, Ga--They have been on the edge of greatness for two years now, Edmund Burke in the GISA championship game in back to back seasons. Both times, it was a long bus ride back to Waynesboro. This season the Spartans are hoping to get rid of the demons of the past.

While Buddy Sorrow may have lost his entire offensive backfield, he does have everyone back up front. From tight end to tight end, the offensive line returns in tact. They've also gotten bigger in the off season and won't be afraid to push people around. They'll have to with the youth behind them.

"This is the biggest line EBA has had since 2001, what somebody said" said Seth Paulk "We're going to have to just push ahead and really step up and let our running backs get behind us."

"Well that's what you hope when you lose your whole backfield" said coach Buddy Sorrow "You hope you have an experienced offensive line and right now that's what we have so that's our strength. Hopefully they'll give our new backs, fullbacks and halfbacks and the quarterbacks a little confidence."

These guys truely believe the backs will come around quickly and the wins will add up. Coach Sorrow though is still looking for some leaders. Having lost six two-way starters has him a little concerned in that department. If some guys take ownership of the team, the spartans could again be a title contender
