Grovetown, Ga--A year ago D.J. Tyson was doing damage on the field for Greenbrier. But with his dad now a coach at Grovetown, he wanted to be with him. It's paying off in wins as Tyson is a big part of the Warrior offense. This week, we honor the senior as our Operation Football Live/Augusta Chronicle player of the week.
Against Josey, Tyson's second half was a big reason the Warriors won. 162 yards and two scores in that half alone helped them pull away for the win. Grovetown has some big time play makers and speed and Tyson fits in perfectly with the working man attitude the team has.
"You want your seniors to be there and doing what they're suppose to do and that's what D.J. is doing right now." said coach Rodney Holder "He comes to work everyday, he practices hard and punches that time clock and he appreciates his linemen and he's just doing it the right way and when you do things like that, its funny how things just work out for you."
"We've all been out here working hard every day." said DJ Tyson "I give all my credit to the O-line because they played great on Friday night and that's why I give all the credit to and this award to."
Warriors have a big test this week taking on ARC. The winner will likely be the two seed in the region playoffs and Tyson should be in the midst of the defensive focus again.
