Blackville Hilda to use underclassmen in big roles

Wednesday, August 20, 2014

Blackville, SC--Over the years very few teams have done more with less then Blackville Hilda. Long time coach David Berry has been there forever and knows how to get most out of kids. That's why a two win season is out of the ordinary for the Hawks.

Part of their struggles last year can be pinned on the inexpereince. Berry says they started freshmen and sophomores at times which makes success tough to come by. Even now, he expects more of the youth movement which makes a change in coaching philosophy.

"We try to be simple, we try to be as simple as possible, do the best things the easiest, simpliest way we can do it" said David Berry "Try to put them in a position to be succesful. That's the one thing, if they just listen and do the things we ask them to do, everything else will kind of fall into place."

Look for Darren Ford to step up in the backfield, he was the leading rusher a year ago. Also, they do have some size on that line. If they can find more offense, no question this team can rebound and win more then they lose.
