Bamberg Ehrhardt overwhelmed by Abbeville in title game

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Abbeville rushed for 426 yards to run over
Bamberg-Ehrhardt 42-13 to win the South Carolina Class A Division I
football title on Friday.

The Panthers won their first state title since 1996 in the first
season since they dropped to Class A.

Ashton Heard ran for 230 yards and two touchdowns on 25 carries
and La'Quavas Watt rushed for 167 yards and two touchdowns on 26
carries for Abbeville. Watt also caught a TD pass.

Abbeville took a 7-0 lead on Andrew Osborn's 15-yard scoring
pass to Tyler Boyles, but Bamberg-Ehrhardt responded with a 96-yard
kickoff return by Carl Anthony Williams.

The Panthers took the lead for good on a 1-yard TD run by Heard.

Boyles completed just two passes for Abbeville, but both went
for touchdowns.

Demetrius Williams led Bamberg-Ehrhardt with 131 yards on 19
rushes.
