Augusta, GA -- It's never easy to rebuild a program, but it's even harder to build one in the first place.

That's what Augusta Prep Coach Harry Bacheller has been doing the last couple years, and this is an important season for the Cavaliers.

Prep is in the process of completing two seasons without an affiliation to any state athletic association, all in an effort to be competitive once they join the GISA.

That day is only a year away, so this season is a big one for the Cavs to prepare and get ready to make a run once they finally get their chance.

Bacheller said, "They kind of know what to expect now. We still have a long way to go. We're doing baby steps. I think we're doing it the right way, one step at a time. We don't have any big goals of winning state championships or anything. We're just trying to take care of one thing at a time and do the program the right way."

Senior Quarterback Jack Owen added, "You know we have more depth than we've ever had before, and people are starting to kind of figure it out. We get better everyday I feel like."

The Cavaliers have a lot more local competition on the schedule this year.

Highlighted on that is the grudge match with rival Westminster. The Cavaliers host that game September 28th.
