Martinez, Ga--It was a year to forget for the Lions of Augusta Christian. Just three wins total, something they haven't seen in a while. Now they're trying to put that all behind them and get back to a winning brand of football.
They have the horses to do so and it starts up front. Clemson signee Zach Giella along with Calvin Taylor are two big pieces to the puzzle. They'll need to open the holes on offense for a young backfield. A couple of things missing last year, communication and leadership and they've been worked on a lot as they get ready to start the season.
"I like the commoradiery the team has right now, I like the leadership and where they have the direction this team is going right now" said Keith Walton "As coaches, we give the blueprint to the house, but the kids actually have to build it so I'm really pleased with what my seniors are doing."
"Overall we just need to come together as a unit more so then we were last year." said Jacob Greenway "Last year I think everyone was doing their own thing. We need a more cohesive team this year."
Matt Peavler takes over as quarterback, he got thrown into the fire a bit last year. Caoch Walton say's it'll be running back by committee as well. They do have some talented kids on this roster so look for that to pay off in a big way.
