BARNWELL, SC---For all the parents out there who think their child is too small for football read closely. Barnwell's Hassan Williams is almost always the smallest player on the field and more times than not, he's also the best.
Intimidation is not a part of the senior running back's game. At 5 foot 4 and 145 pounds, he doesn't scare any opponents, until they see him run. Despite his small stature, Williams has become the workhorse of the Warhorses, piling up 63 carries over the last 2 ballgames. There's a reason he gets the ball more than anyone else. Two weeks ago he had 170 yards against Bamberg-Erhardt and this past weekend, he ran over Midland Valley to the tune of 180 yards and 4 touchdowns, including the game winner in double overtime giving the warhorses their biggest win of the year.
Williams says, "It was real big because we needed that to go into Allendale to give the team a lift."
Adds Coach Joey Still, "He gets stronger as the game goes and I think it gives a lot of confidence to our offensive line. They love to see him back there. He's very explosive with the football and he makes things happen."
Williams helped earn his team a win and himself a brand new t-shirt. Proving it ain't the size of the Warhorse in the fight but the size of the fight in the Warhorse.
