Thomson, Ga-- When you play for the independent ranks in high school football, numbers is usually an issue. That'll be the case again for Briarwood Academy who has 18 players to start the year. The Buccaneers also lost eight seniors to graduation.
One thing that seems to be different at Briarwood, a thing they call teamwork. The players feel a different attitude around camp as the season gets ready to go.
"This is a lot different then its been in the past couple of years." said senior Dave Joesbury. "I think we feel more like a team this year, everybody gets along really well"
Coach Blake Duncan said, "A self imposed work ethic has been a real pleasure for me, where I don't have to motivate them a whole lot, I've had to do some but they've done a good job of working with each other and keeping each other on the right track."
Briarwood opens the season August 30th against Edmund Burke.
