Louisville, Ga--We continue our trek around high school football camps today with a trip to Jefferson County and a check on the Warriors. When you talk Jefferson County football this year, one name will jump off the page.
That of course being big man A.J. Harmon. The Clemson bound product will be one big key to the success of Jefferson County. Having lost Mr. Everything quarterback Dennis Thomas, a sophomore will fill the shoes. Thus the pressure on Harmon and the rest of an experienced offensive line. As they go, so will the Warriors.
"I felt like in the past i've done that with Dennis (Thomas), who was the quarterback with me last year and i can't afford to do that." said J.B. Arnold. "yea, we put a little more on A.J. (Harmon) Sure, but we have a bunch of kids that i think we're putting more on to perform. If they step up and perform then again we can be as good as we want to be. If they don't it may be a long year at Jefferson County."
The Warriors have had plenty of regular season success over the years but are lacking one thing, playoff wins. They have none. It's not a fact lost on the kids who are hoping to break through this year.
"We're trying to make school history, that's our plan, to make school history. Go past the playoffs, that's what we want to do, go past the first round of the playoffs." said running back Lamar Brown
Jefferson County will have their hands full out of the gate. First three opponents were a combined 25 and 8 a year ago.
